On his web-site, Trumpeter Micheal Johnson says, “Most people in Toronto think of me as a jazz man, but they just don't know me very well.” While it is true that MJ’s primary interests lie in social activism, and that his main musical pursuits are more in the direction of Rock and Punk, he none-the-less has a great traditional jazz and blues sound, and has played along with some of Canada’s best Jazz and Blues outfits. And he still plays his own version of Traditional Jazz with his band, Michael J’s Dime Store Orchestra, and he also plays in jazz, blues and swing duets and trios booked by Pivotal Productions.
